Summer Time…

June 9, 2008

So I really hate that it has been months since my last post. I sincerely apologize.

Now, technically I’m still a student at Tomball College. I “graduated” in May but I have a little more work to do over the summer before receiving my diploma. So… I’m taking a class and, of course, I’m still working in Enrollment Services.

I love this place! I will be transferring in the fall… so sadly, I will not be a Student Ambassador next year… or a member of SGA or SAB.

I hope Jennifer Jauma doesn’t mind that I’ve decided to make a post. haha I do enjoy writing here and updating everyone. I hope to see your faces throughout the summer on campus!

Wish me luck! I’m taking a Geology course… 4 hours a day…. 4 days a week… great prof though! I wish everyone a BEAUTIFUL SUMMER!

As Time Goes By…

February 4, 2008

Welcome back!

First and foremost I must apologize that it has taken me so long to find the opportunity to write. School and work keep me busy as usual. However, other outside influences have kept me busy as well.  I am beyond words, filled with excitement, for the Spring semester. Here’s a little recap on the major events in my last few months. Again, I apologize for being out so long. I’ve missed you!

On Halloween (October 31st) I went out to the Haunted Trails with a group of friends. Sadly, we were witnesses to a hit-and-run. A vehicle traveling at approximately 4omph hit a 16 year old boy walking across the street with his family. Thankfully, the boy was rushed to the emergency in stable condition. Only severe head injuries and a broken leg.

Thanksgiving was beautiful! However, in late November I suffered from Strep throat for 2 1/2 weeks & had a fever of 105F. I had to miss work & school- wow that was tough for me! I love Tomball College.

December was looking better for me as finals came to an end. I was satisfied with my grades and had a fantastic final outing with Math Club to Main Event & Red Robin. Sadly, on the 2nd day of my Winter Minimester I was in a car accident. The other driver was at fault & I’m physically ok, but my car is totaled. So now transportation has been quite an interesting feat. My Christmas and New Year’s celebrations were filled with stress and tears. So to be honest, I was really looking forward to the new year, new semester, & new age.

January 4th, 2008 I celebrated my 21st birthday! It was amazing! So many friends and family expressed love and appreciation on the day/night of my 21st and the entire month of January. I honestly celebrated the entire month of January. Every day I talked about my birthday & even received gifts up till the very last day- which I spent with my family.

 My 21st Birthday!

On a tragic note, a very dear friend of ours at Tomball College was killed in a car accident early January. I continue to mourn and appreciate the support everyone is sharing. I know I’m not the only one who is missing Sid terribly. *RIP*

Also, in another string of bad luck I came down with some form of strep again January 11th. Can I catch a break?! Apparently not; the following week I had to visit the Emergency room due to severe aches and pains. After several hours, blood tests, x-rays, breathing treatments, throat/nose swabs, and an IV in my arm all night, the results confirmed that I had Influenza Type A. This type is not so severe; however, considering I had been ill 3 times in 1 1/2 months, the  doctors demanded that I stay out of work and school for FIVE days! It was torture. I’m taking 5 classes this semester, working as your VP Student Outreach for SGA, I’m blessed to be a Student Ambassador again this semester, I’m working on Student Activities Board, AND working at the front counter for Enrollment Services. For me, missing FIVE days was like missing a month. Now, as the SuperBowl is playing on our television in the living room, I am still working to catch up in all of my classes. All weekend I’ve been home studying, cleaning, and organizing. I can do it though! I communicated right away with my professors- therefore, they have been understanding, patient, and helpful during these trying times.

I am still hopeful for the new year. I have met so many new people, experienced new things, and I’ve worked on building the relationships I’ve already established. Words cannot describe the adoration and appreciation I have for my family, friends, loved ones, co-workers, peers, students, professors, bosses, etc…

I look forward to this new semester with all of you. So much has changed already. Let’s see what we can do to change the world…one day at a time. I welcome whole heartedly our new blogger Ryan. I also send love to my Latino blogger Enrique.

Trabajando mucho…

October 18, 2007

Hello hello! I am busy…what else is new? haha

Well today I attended a Math Club and SGA Executive Council meeting. We have so much coming up for Tomball College. Next week for Math Club I’ll be taking the SML Exam. Wish me luck everyone! Please look for posters for upcoming speakers and events. Definitely show us some love at this year’s Fall Fest- we’re having a dunking booth to dunk FACULTY AND STAFF! If it’s not too cold David Birch and Dr. Eric Wildman have promised to support our club by volunteering to dunked. AMAZING! I look forward to it and I just hope it’s not cold out.

SGA will have a meeting next Wednesday with all of the clubs, and as the new VP of Student Outreach I will be ready to hear from all of your representives within the clubs. Student Activities Board and SALSA club also are working very hard to bring events that will help Tomball College grow and allow students to truly enjoy themselves here. I have volunteered to work on specific committees for SAB so I’ll let you know when and what to expect soon!

Student Ambassadors keep me busy with so many wonderful opportunities to volunteer for schools within the area and other branches of the community. I appreciate this opportunity to communicate with the world through my blogs. I have been busy with tests and stories and quizzes for all of my classes. Friends and study groups have kept me going and succeeding. Thank you all.

Good Night and I’ll post again soon!

WOW!

September 26, 2007

So everyone…Welcome back! Wow! It has been quite a crazy week for me. I must make a confession here and now: I have been so overwhelmed that I almost feel like a slacker for not going above and beyond in EVERYTHING. Then again, that’s somewhat unrealistic of me right?

Well I do feel confident about my Trigonometry class. I lost sleep and didn’t each much last week because I was so stressed about our first test. However, I think I did very well. All weekend I’ve been looking forward to finding out my grade on the test. Unfortunately, my patience is being tested; my professor canceled class for today due to an illness and so I have to wait until Thursday to have my grade revealed to me.As far as my other classes: well let’s just say after this week I can not and will not fall behind. I am working hard to remain positive and productive. My life functions best when I am organized…and the last week or two have thrown off my regular routine. I have felt very happy though.

Family and Friends are some of the greatest blessings from God. They occupy so much of my time each week…but they bring me so many smiles and so much laughter. Thanks to them, I’ll be living longer and happier! I would like to give a special thanks to the friends I share every day with and to my family for encouragement and support through my studies.

Also, I have to say congratulations to my best friend Alycia. She lives in Graham, Texas but is giving birth to Naythan Lee Dilworth today! I am the official God-Mother and I can’t wait to visit them soon! I’ll let everyone how the delivery goes and the little trip to one of the smallest towns in Texas! Haha  Have a great week and thanks for the love Tomball College!

Busy LiL Bee!

September 18, 2007

Well well well everyone. It’s mid-September and school is in full force. I must say that I am busier than I realized I would be: SALSA club, Student Ambassadors, and recently I’ve joined Student Activities Board. Wow! I’m kept busy with meetings, blogging, Activities Mart, homework, work, family, and dating. Haha I don’t know how I have time for the latter of the group but I manage well. Don’t get me wrong, I love participating so much. It’s what I love to do: helping others while working together with amazing fellow students.

I’m taking a Chemistry class in the mornings at the North Harris Campus every Monday and Wednesday. I work at Tomball College immediately after CHEM 1411 from 1:00pm till 9:00pm. I can honestly say that I have felt overwhelmed and exhausted. The only days I don’t work at the college are Tuesdays and Thursdays BUT club activities and classes keep those days filled with excitement and work. I have some tests this week to prepare for, along with quizzes in Trigonometry. As Enrique mentioned, I too felt overwhelmed with the work but realized the best thing is for me to take the time to carefully study my notes and complete all homework assignments. It amazes me sometimes that simply completing my homework ahead of schedule relieves so much stress and pressure. Trust me, I am working very hard to catch up and stay ahead in all of my classes.

On a lighter note, this past weekend was filled with good times, family, and friends. I went to dinner and a movie with a group of friends on Friday.

Friends

I also spent all day and night Saturday with my family celebrating the five birthdays we have in September.  It’s Monday and time to get back into “school and work mode.” I don’t have much time for recreation during the week. However, I am thankful that my fellow Student Ambassadors and I take time to have lunch together on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Well it’s time for me to get back to work and homework so please share with me about your days. I love to share with everyone about my daily life as a college student and employee. Ask me questions, tell me anything! I wish everyone a wonderful week!

I survived the first week!

September 10, 2007

Ok everyone! So in the last blog I was super ecstatic about joining Tomball College. My first week of Fall classes are over and I am still so happy to be here!

I am currently taking English 1302 and Trigonometry at TC. I must say these are rigorous courses but my professors and fellow classmates have reassured me to my inevitable success.

The first week is a great time to become acquainted with the campus and professors. They have been so friendly and enthused about my classes that I actually look forward to coming every day. (Well of course I LOVE socializing with my friends too)

Ambassadors

Working here keeps me busy, too, of course. Students are continuing to register and submit financial aid paperwork. I love my job but I enjoy participating in club events much more! I am Vice President of SALSA club - so you’ll definitely find me working on campus for that group. Also, as a Student Ambassador I’ll be working on campus with one of the BEST groups of students and advisors. (That’s me in the photo above with the Ambassadors this August.)

I promise to keep you updated on what life is like for me, here, everday, at Tomball College. Between work, classes, and clubs, I truly can be found on campus every day of the week.
