Wow. It has been too long ladies and gentlemen. So life continues to throw these curveballs at me. One great experience in my life is preceded by and followed with many more tribulations. I have to be honest with everyone: I am struggling these days. I’m definitely keeping it all together, but every day new stress and drama arise. I keep my chin up, spirits high, and my faith strong. I must thank my support group of friends, co-workers, and advisors for always offering a listening ear or a helping hand. My professors have been extremely understanding and helpful. I thank you as well. Now let’s not be discouraged guys! Even though I continue to face many obstacles, I am still here. Nothing is going to prevent me from earning a college education. I am passionate about school and my work. I live for helping others and bringing peace and happiness into this world.
I love to inspire and be inspired…and on that note, I have to include my opinion about New York City. As you can see from my title of this post, I AM IN LOVE! I didn’t want to come home. Now, I know that is unrealistic because reality will always be here waiting for me. However, it was my first visit to the Big Apple and I can’t imagine living the rest of my life without either returning to visit or actually moving there. Yes, I am a city girl in every aspect. The people, the food, the smells, the architecture, the lights, the subway…I honestly could go on and on about how much I love about NYC. I’m not, by any means, discrediting Houston, Texas. I am here, afterall. I just can’t help the connection I felt while in New York. The trip was for an ASGA Leadership Conference. The entire executive council for Tomball College Student Government was invited to share this experience. We learned great things about improving our Student Government, while meeting amazing, diverse students from colleges within the United States and even one group from Kazakhstan! Those kids fell in love with us! We took pictures with them and of them. We all exchanged contact information with many students at the conference. I’ve already contacted many of them through Facebook, Myspace, and email. I absolutely LOVE opportunities to meet new people in new places.
