Oh I’m in love…with New York City everyone!

February 27, 2008

Wow. It has been too long ladies and gentlemen. So life continues to throw these curveballs at me. One great experience in my life is preceded by and followed with many more tribulations. I have to be honest with everyone: I am struggling these days. I’m definitely keeping it all together, but every day new stress and drama arise. I keep my chin up, spirits high, and my faith strong. I must thank my support group of friends, co-workers, and advisors for always offering a listening ear or a helping hand. My professors have been extremely understanding and helpful. I thank you as well. Now let’s not be discouraged guys! Even though I continue to face many obstacles, I am still here. Nothing is going to prevent me from earning a college education. I am passionate about school and my work. I live for helping others and bringing peace and happiness into this world.

I love to inspire and be inspired…and on that note, I have to include my opinion about New York City. As you can see from my title of this post, I AM IN LOVE! I didn’t want to come home. Now, I know that is unrealistic because reality will always be here waiting for me. However, it was my first visit to the Big Apple and I can’t imagine living the rest of my life without either returning to visit or actually moving there. Yes, I am a city girl in every aspect. The people, the food, the smells, the architecture, the lights, the subway…I honestly could go on and on about how much I love about NYC. I’m not, by any means, discrediting Houston, Texas. I am here, afterall. I just can’t help the connection I felt while in New York. The trip was for an ASGA Leadership Conference. The entire executive council for Tomball College Student Government was invited to share this experience. We learned great things about improving our Student Government, while meeting amazing, diverse students from colleges within the United States and even one group from Kazakhstan! Those kids fell in love with us! We took pictures with them and of them. We all exchanged contact information with many students at the conference. I’ve already contacted many of them through Facebook, Myspace, and email. I absolutely LOVE opportunities to meet new people in new places.

I love the holidays!

October 26, 2007

It’s almost time for HALLOWEEN! I can not fully express how much excitement I have about the last few days of this month. First of all, Wednesday October 31st from 11am-2pm Tomball College will be hosting FALL FEST 2007. As a member of many clubs, including Student Activities Board, you will see me dressed in my costume and helping out with as many events as possible.

So for the last week work, school, and club meetings have kept me crazy! I have even made some time to go workout! It’s been a rough start for me to pick up where I left off with my workout routine. I went from working out 6 days a week to only a couple of days a week. HOWEVER! I am making great efforts to get back on track. Ü

Friends, of course, help me endure. Whether I am having trouble in a class, at home, or in a relationship- my friends are ALWAYS there for me. I really appreciate every one of you who share a part of each day with me. College has really become about establishing relationships- in school, work, and my personal life. These people that I meet and work with are going to affect and remain active in my future.

On an academic note: I took the SML Exam on Wednesday October 24th. I was very nervous about the test. Even though I volunteered to take the test for fun and to support Math Club, I still felt some pressure. I enjoyed the experience; I don’t expect to win any prizes, but I am thankful that I went through with it.

Well students and staff (I know some faculty/staff read these too) it is time for me to turn in…and try on my new Halloween Costume one more time! Ü Thank you for your continuous attention and support. Keep in mind that online registration begins November 13th and onsite registration begins November 26th. Peak registration at the Front Counter is going to be a frenzy! (But I look forward to it! I LOVE helping students here at Tomball College)

Quick Shout…

October 10, 2007

So I have to announce that I am officially Tomball College’s Student Government Association’s Vice President of Student Outreach! (Wow that’s a long title!)

Thank you sooo much for your votes. I look forward to this opportunity to better serve the students. Ü

So much has happened for me this past week but most importantly:

-I am currently taking care of family matters every day of the week. My father is required to travel often for work; therefore, I am also responsible for my 16 year old sister during the week. She is my best friend and I love having the opportunity to bring her around the college, introduce her to friends and staff, while showing her the importance of college and participating.

-I appreciate the encouragement and support from all of the staff and students here at the College. You truly brighten my week.

Tonight is a busy evening for me so this post will be short and sweet. I have a trig test on Thursday to study for so hopefully I’ll have time soon to update you all with another post.

Thanks again for your votes and continuous support.
